WACO, Texas – Baylor senior, Kayley Ables picks up the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week award for her efforts in the Bears’ games against Iowa State and West Virginia. This marks the first weekly award for Ables’ this season, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon.

Ables, a Waco native, led Baylor’s backline in back-to-back conference shutouts last week. A part of Baylor’s “No Goal Patrol” she was on the pitch for all 200 minutes played in both games. She helped hold Iowa State to just six shots with just one on goal in the 2-0 victory over the Cyclones. Keeping up the momentum, she helped hold the Mountaineers to just five shots on goal in Sunday’s 0-0 double overtime draw.

Ables’ honor is the third weekly award of her career, after winning back-to-back weekly defensive awards to start the 2020 season.

She joins Grace Yochum, Oklahoma State (Offensive), Kayza Massey, West Virginia (Goalkeeper) and Camryn Lancaster, TCU (Freshman) as this week’s award winners.
