MT Moves into Quarterfinals at ITA Regionals

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Baylor men’s tennis had another successful day in the Mitchell Tennis Center on Saturday, with one single and one doubles pair moving on to the quarterfinals.

Finn Bass, Adrian Boitan, Sven Lah and Tadeas Paroulek all played in the round of 16 singles, with No. 7 seed Lah winning his match with Texas A&M’s Matthis Ross 7-6, 6-3 to move on into the quarterfinals. He will face TCU’s Pedro Vives on Sunday at 9 a.m..

Boitan, the No. 1 seed, fell to the Horned Frogs’ Juan Carlos Aguilar 6-4, 6-4. No. 6 seed Paroulek fell to the Aggies’ Raphael Perot after a battle, finishing 4-6, 6-1, 6-3. Bass fell to Horned Frog and No. 3 seed Luc Fomba 7-5, 7-5.

In consolation singles rounds, Braverman defeated Jose Maria Rastrojo of ACU 7-5, 6-4 for his second match. Muza fell to Kenner Taylor of Texas A&M 6-3, 6-4.

Baylor’s second-seed doubles pairing of Lah and Bass defeated Texas A&M Corpus Christi’s Ryuya Ata and Kyohei Yamanaka, 8-2 in the round of 32. They faced Texas Tech’s Olle Wallin and Francisco Vittar next, winning it 8-2 to advance to the quarterfinals. They will face Texas A&M’s Noah Schachter and Austin Abbrat on Sunday at 9 a.m. with hopes to advance to the semis.

Paroulek and Brumm defeated Rice’s Trinity Grear and Emir Sendogan 8-1 in the round of 32. They took on Adam Neff and Ivan Thamma of SMU but fell to the Mustangs, 8-5.

Pair Ethan Muza and Justin Braverman fell to Red Raiders Ilgiz Valiev and Demetris Azoides after a hard-fought battle at 8-6 in the round of 32.
