Bears start main draw singles and doubles action on Friday in College Station.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Baylor men’s tennis completed the qualifying rounds of the ITA Regionals on Thursday, with Ethan Muza moving on into the main draw.

The main draw for both singles and doubles begins Friday at the Mitchell Tennis Center on Texas A&M’s campus.

The first round on Thursday was held on Baylor’s Hawkins Indoor tennis courts due to inclement weather in College Station. Justin Braverman started the day out for the Bears, facing UT Arlington’s Ricardo Alban in the first round of qualifying. He won the match 6-0, 6-3 to take on SMU’s Ivan Thamma in the second round, but fell 6-4, 6-2.

Muza had a first round bye, then faced Texas A&M-Corpus Christi’s Ryuna Ata in round two. He defeated Ata 6-1, 6-2 back in College Station to move into the main draw.

Finn Bass, Adrian Boitan, Jacob Brumm, Sven Lah, Muza, and Tadeas Paroulek will take part in the main draw action.

Boitan, who is the No. 1 seed in the tournament, will face Emir Sendogan of Rice who moved on from the qualifiers. They will start at 9:45 a.m.

Lah, the No. 7 seed, takes on Kyohei Yamanaka of TAMU-CC at 11 a.m.

No. 6 seed Paroulek is set to take on Ivan Smith of Incarnate Word at 10 a.m.

Brumm will face Guillermo Castaneda of TAMU-CC, another qualifier, at 9:45 a.m. while Muza has Olle Wallin of Texas Tech at 9 a.m.

Friday also marks the beginning of doubles play at the ITA Regionals. The draws for the doubles have yet to be announced, though they will begin starting at approximately 4 p.m. Baylor’s pairs include Bass and Lah, Brumm and Paroulek, as well as Braverman and Muza.

Court announcements for singles and doubles will be announced closer to start time.
