DENTON, Texas. – No. 12 Baylor volleyball swept North Texas, 3-0, on Wednesday night in the UNT Volleyball Center.

Baylor (9-4, 3-1 Big 12) made quick work of the Mean Green (9-8, 2-2 C-USA) in Denton, sweeping them 25-19, 25-10, 25-20 in the midweek matchup.

The Bears started with a different lineup this match, playing two defensive specialists in both Lauren Briseño and Emily Van Slate, along with Preslie Anderson, Shanel Bramschreiber, Kara McGhee, Hannah Sedwick, and Avery Skinner.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Set One
The Bears started behind early in the set but came back with a Hannah Sedwick ace, while a Shanel Bramschreiber kill tied it at 4-4. Elise McGhee got a kill off a touch from the Mean Green, then the Bears went on a five-point run to make it 11-7 when UNT called timeout. The set progressed quickly, with a Lauren Briseño ace making it 14-9 for the Bears. The Mean Green caught up in a hurry, making it 17-14. The Bears kept up the momentum and finished the set 25-19. The Bears had four aces in the first frame, with two coming from Emily Van Slate.

Set Two
Another fast-moving set was all Baylor, though it started with the teams trading points. Avery Skinner was the shining star, recording 10 kills. The Bears ran away with the set after being tied at 5-5. The Bears scored seven-straight points to make it 11-5. On a run of 7-1 ending at 24-9, Skinner had recorded five of the points. The set ended at 25-10, one of UNT’s lowest-scoring sets of the season.

Set Three
It started out all Bears, but the Mean Green tied it up at 6-6. Hannah Sedwick recorded two kills throughout the rest of the set. After a long run by Baylor, the Mean Green put a stop to it and went on a run of their own starting at 20-14. The Bears pulled away again and finished the match at 25-20.

The Bears played in front of a packed house at the UNT Volleyball Center, but had fans of their own donning Green and Gold in the stands.
