THE RUNDOWN
BURLESON, Texas – No. 3 Baylor equestrian (3-1) took care of No. 9 TCU (3-5) Friday afternoon, 14-6, at Diamond Creek Ranch.

Twelve different Bears scored a point in the victory, as BU tallied its highest point total in a single meet since defeating TCU on Nov. 1, 2019.

Baylor also collected a 5-0 sweep in Reining, marking the first time since that same 2019 victory over TCU that the Bears have posted a shutout in the event. It’s the second time this season that BU has held its opponent scoreless in an event, joining Horsemanship’s 4-0 win at then-No. 10 UT Martin on Sept. 24.

Fences got things started with a 3-2 victory as Emma Fletcher, Caroline Fuller and Madison Mitchell collected points for the Bears. Fuller improved to 4-0 on the year and was named Most Outstanding Performer with an 80, helping to keep the Fences squad unbeaten in the 2021-22 season so far.

Next up, it was all BU as Flat and Reining got going simultaneously. Flat cruised to a 4-1 win behind points from Fletcher, Savannah Hemby, Mitchell and Dominika Silvestri, while Reining claimed all five points on the board. Madaline Callaway led the Western group with a 72.5 on Snoop Dog, garnering MOP accolades, though Shelby Clausen and Daisy Kaufman followed close behind with a 71.5 and 71, respectively. Jenna Meimerstorf and Andie Pratt rounded it out with wins of their own, each to remain undefeated this season.

Finally, it was Horsemanship’s turn to take center stage as the Bears saw out the win. Marley Mainwaring, who earned MOP honors with a 75.5, and Ellen Schrotenboer provided the finishing touches, as BU notched its third victory of the season.
