WACO, Texas – Baylor equestrian senior Rachael Davis was named the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) Flat Rider of the Month for March, as announced Tuesday by the organization.

Davis is the second national award recipient of the season for the Bears, joining Madaline Callaway’s January Reining honor. She is Baylor’s seventh all-time Flat selection. This is Davis’ first-career national accolade, as she’s been named Big 12 Rider of the Month twice before.

The Woodinville, Wash., native went undefeated in March in the Flat, tallying an unblemished 5-0 record with two MOP honors. Her 81-76 win against No. 3 Oklahoma State in the Bears’ season finale helped the Jumping Seat squad to a 5-5 finish, while Flat took the event 3-2. She also scored an 86 against No. 5 Fresno State on neutral grounds, a season-high score for BU.

Davis and the Bears will return to the competition ring this week for the Big 12 Equestrian Championship on March 26-27 at the Willis Family Equestrian Center in Waco. Fourth-seeded BU will take on top-seeded Oklahoma State on Friday at 10 a.m. CT.
