Bears garner team award for 15th time, six individual honorees ties program record

TEMPE, Ariz. – For the 15th time in program history, Baylor men’s tennis has been named an ITA All-Academic Team, as announced Monday by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. The organization also named Charlie Broom, Ryan Dickerson, Christopher Frantzen, Constantin Frantzen, Spencer Furman and Nick Stachowiak as ITA Scholar-Athletes.

This is the 13th time in the last 14 seasons that the Bears have earned the team honor, qualifying with a cumulative grade point average of 3.37. To be eligible for the award, teams must possess a combined GPA of at least 3.20.

Individually, Baylor picked up six honorees for the third time in program history, tying its all-time record (2010, 2016). Dickerson collected the accolade for the fifth time in his career and second as a Bear, while Stachowiak garnered his fourth-career honor and first as a Bear. Furman was recognized for the third time in his career and first as a Bear, while the Frantzen brothers each earned the distinction for the second time. In his first season at BU, Broom was awarded for the second time in his career.

To earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status, a player must be a varsity letterwinner, have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.0 scale) for the current academic year, and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.
