WACO, Texas – Baylor football senior Trestan Ebner has been named to the 2021 Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award watch list, as announced Thursday at the annual SPORTyler Football Kickoff Luncheon.

The award recognizes the top offensive player in Division I football who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community and tenacity to persist as well as determination to overcome adversity and injury in pursuit of reaching goals.

Additionally, the nominee must either be born in Texas, graduated from a Texas high school, or played at a Texas-based junior college or four-year university.

Ebner, a Henderson, Texas native, was a second-team All-American by three entities last season and a third-team selection by a fourth, mainly for his special teams contribution to the Bears.

Ebner ranked fourth in the Big 12 in all-purpose yards per game (116.3) last season and added a rushing touchdown to accompany three receiving scores. He had two kickoff returns for touchdowns, with both coming on Sept. 26 vs. Kansas.

He is the only running back in Baylor program history to go over 1,000 yards receiving. Heading into the 2021 season, he ranks second all-time amongst BU running backs with 99 career receptions.

In Ebner’s 47-game career, he’s averaged 60.3 all-purpose yards per contest and has scored 19 total touchdowns.

The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award watch list will be narrowed down to up to 16 semifinalists and then up to five finalists. They will be selected by broadcasters, commentators, journalists, fans and previous winners. A winner will be announced at the end of this year’s football season.
