IRVING, Texas – Baylor soccer was picked to finish seventh in the 2021 Big 12 Soccer Preseason Poll, released Wednesday by the conference office.



West Virginia, for the eighth time in the last nine seasons, is the preseason favorite with five first-place votes and 74 points. One point separates the Mountaineers from defending Big 12 champ TCU with four first-place votes and 73 points.



Oklahoma State (64), Texas Tech (56),Texas (52) and Kansas (40) are picked to finish third through sixth, respectively, while Iowa State (26), Oklahoma (15) and Kansas State (14) round out the poll.



The Bears are coming off a 3-3-3 Big 12 season in 2020 with six of nine matches ending in a shutout for the Baylor defense.



Baylor hosts an exhibition match against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (Thursday, Aug. 12 at 7 p.m.) and travels to Texas A&M for another exhibition (Sunday, Aug. 15 at 7 p.m.) before beginning the season on the road at Minnesota on Thursday, Aug. 19 with the match slated for a 6 p.m. start.
