WACO, Texas. – Baylor men’s golf tees off for the 2020-21 season Monday morning in the Colonial Collegiate Invitational, a two-day, 54-hole tournament at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas.

The 10-team field is comprised entirely of teams from the Big 12 Conference, and standings from the event will be used to determine seeding for the Big 12 Match Play Championship, which runs Friday through Sunday at Golf Club at Houston Oaks in Hockley, Texas.

Teams are scheduled to play 36 holes on Monday, followed by a final round on Tuesday. The event is being played with a 6-count-4 format, meaning the four lowest individual scores on each team will be combined to form the team score each round.

Baylor’s lineup is led by returning fifth-year senior Cooper Dossey, who last season became the first player in program history named a first-team All-American. He’s followed by fellow fifth-year senior Colin Kober in the No. 2 spot and redshirt junior Ryan Grider at No. 3. Those three will play together and tee off at 8:09 a.m. CT.

Redshirt freshman and 2020 honorable mention All-American Johnny Keefer is in the No. 4 spot, followed by redshirt sophomore Brandon Hoff at No. 5 and freshman Trey Bosco at No. 6. Those three will tee off together at 8 a.m.

In an effort to reduce COVID-19 risks, three players from each team will play together, and nine minutes later the remaining three players on that team will tee off together. There will then be a 12-minute break before the next team tees off. Spectators are not permitted, but there will be live coverage on the @BaylorMGolf Twitter account.

Following Tuesday’s final round, all teams will remain in Fort Worth overnight and again be COVID-19 tested on Wednesday morning, then will head to the Houston area to prepare for Thursday’s practice round for the third-annual Big 12 Match Play Championship. Spectators also will not be permitted at Golf Club at Houston Oaks.

Baylor is led by seventh-year head coach Mike McGraw. He’s led the Bears to four consecutive NCAA Championships, and had the Bears in position for a fifth consecutive appearance before the 2019-20 season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. All spring sports student-athletes were granted an additional year of eligibility, which opened the door for Dossey and Kober to return for their fifth seasons.

McGraw is assisted by Mikkel Bjerch-Andresen, a 2015 Baylor graduate in his first season with the Bears and his fifth season as a Division I assistant coach. Bjerch-Andresen spent the last three years at Texas Tech, including the last two as associate head coach, and he broke into the coaching profession as an assistant coach at SFA in 2016. He replaces Ryan Blagg, who spent seven seasons as Baylor’s assistant coach before being named head coach at Louisville in May 2020.
