WACO, Texas – Baylor men’s golf has signed a pair of high school seniors to National Letters of Intent in the 2021 signing class, head coach Mike McGraw announced on Wednesday.



Baylor signed a pair of highly-ranked recruits with Zach Heffernan of Boerne, Texas, and Drew Wrightson of Zionsville, Ind. The duo will join the Bears in the fall of 2021 and each will have four years of collegiate eligibility.



“I am really pleased with signing Drew and Zach,” McGraw said. “These young men exemplify all that is Baylor Golf, and I’m excited to bring them into the program.”



Heffernan is ranked No. 18 nationally and No. 2 among players from Texas in the 2021 signing class, according to the Rolex AJGA rankings. He attends Sam Champion High School in Boerne, Texas. Heffernan was an honorable mention 2020 Rolex Junior All-American, a 2019 5A All-State selection, 2019 District 26-5A Champion and 2019 5A Regional runner-up.



He has won each of the last two Texas Junior Amateurs, shooting 66-73-70 at Horseshoe Bay Resort - Ram Rock to claim the 2020 title and 68-71-69 at Kingwood Country Club - Forrest Course to earn the 2019 championship. Heffernan also recorded a second-place finish at the 2020 Maridoe Junior Invitational, and he competed in the 2020 Texas Amateur, the 2020 Southern Amateur and the 2020 Byron Nelson Junior Championship. He won the 2019 and 2020 San Antonio Opens with scores of 71-70 and 66-71, respectively, at Brackenridge Park.



Wrightson is ranked No. 33 nationally and No. 1 in the state of Indiana in the 2021 signing class, according to the Golfweek boys junior rankings. He attends Brebuef Jesuit Preparatory School in Indianapolis. Wrightson finished as runner-up at the 2018 Indiana Junior PGA Championship, finished third at the 2019 Indiana High School State Championship and took eighth place at the 2019 Hoosier Junior Championship.



He also finished as runner-up at the 2020 Pete and Alice Dye National Junior Invitational, which was played at his home course Crooked Stick Golf Club, he took fifth place at the 2020 Wincraft/McArthur Towel & Sports Future Legends and finished seventh at the 2019 Circle K Junior Championship hosted by Otter Creek.



Baylor, which is ranked No. 6 in the latest Golfweek collegiate team rankings, has completed the fall portion of its schedule. The Bears won the 2020 Big 12 Match Play Championship and finished in fourth place at both the Colonial Collegiate Invitational and the Maridoe Collegiate Invitational. BU resumes play in the spring at the Rice Intercollegiate, a one-day, 36-hole tournament on Jan. 25 at Westwood Golf Club in Houston.
