LUBBOCK, Texas – KC Lightfoot cleared 19 feet for the second week in a row, and Alyssa Miller tied the school high jump record to highlight the final day for Baylor track & field at the Texas Tech Invitational & Multis Saturday at the Sports Performance Center in Lubbock.

“It was another great day, continuing to build on successes,” head coach Todd Harbour said. “We’re excited to come out of this one healthy again. There’s never a perfect track meet, but we had a lot of good things today. We still have some areas we can improve upon. We had more people step up into the national level today, and I thought that was a big deal.”

Miller cleared 5-10.25 (1.79m) to tie Kirsten Stepcick’s Baylor indoor high jump record of 5-10.25 (1.79m) set at the 1993 Southwest Conference Championship. The sophomore from McKinney, Texas, is now tied for 11th nationally.

“Alyssa’s school record was huge,” Harbour said. “That’s an old school record. Any time a school record has been around that long, it’s pretty solid. She did a great job. She just missed 6 feet. She had some good jumps at it, so she’s on her way. That was a big deal for her.”

Lightfoot, the two-time reigning Big 12 Athlete of the Week, equaled his school record and national-best pole vault of 19-00.25 (5.80m) to take home the victory. Tuesdi Tidwell made it another sweep for the Bears as she took home the women’s pole vault title with a jump of 14-1.25 (4.30m).

“The pole vaulters did a great job again, as they always do,” Harbour said. “KC tied his school record in the pole vault. Tuesdi won the pole vault today. Riley (Richards) had a PB for this season, so that was good for him.”

Mikayla Deshazer recorded a personal best in the shot put to get the win in the women’s “B” section. The freshman from Kansas City, Mo., posted a mark of 48-2 (14.68m) to rank third on Baylor’s all-time indoor performers list.

“Mikayla got a nice PB in the shot put and won her section,” Harbour said. “It was a good day overall.”

Connor Laktasic won his first collegiate race, cruising to victory in the men’s mile with a time of 4:19.20. Ryan Day followed in second at 4:21.39. In the women’s mile, Celia Holmes ran a time of 5:07.35 to place third.

Jalen Seals recorded a runner-up finish in the men’s long jump, posting a mark of 24-8.25 (7.52m).

It was another big day for Maxwell Willis as he flew to a third-place finish out of 52 runners (15 heats) in the men’s 200 meters, posting a season-best time of 21.03.

The men’s 4x400-meter relay of Matthew Moorer, Ryan Croson, Jayson Baldridge and Howard Fields III ran a time of 3:07.98 to place third, while the women’s 4x4 of Mariah Ayers, Sydney Washington, Jhane' King and Morgan Stewart posted a season-best time of 3:39.04 to take sixth.

“The ladies 4x4 was big,” Harbour said. “I thought that was nice to see them drop.”

The Bears will now prepare to compete at both the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., and the Iowa State Classic in Ames, Iowa, Feb. 14-15.
