WACO, Texas – Baylor cross country combined for 17 Academic All-Big 12 selections between the men’s and women’s teams, the conference office announced Wednesday.

The Bears had 10 women's first team selections, including junior Mazie Larsen<https://baylorbears.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=9418> achieving a 4.00 grade point average. Lauren Ammons, Sarah Antrich, Brooke Bonadies, Sadie Hamrin, Celia Holmes, Madelaine Johnston, Ava Miller, Lauryn Simons and Natasha Strump joined Larsen on the first team.

The men's team had five first-team selections, with sophomore Carson Yarbrough maintaining a 4.00 grade point average. Ryan Day, Ryan Hodge, Cal Johnston and Connor Laktasic also earned first team honors, while Philip Roxas and J.B. Sandlund<https://baylorbears.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=9424> took home second team honors to give the Bears a total of seven men's honorees.

The 2020 Academic All-Big 12 Cross Country Team honored 149 student-athletes with 65 selections on the men's team and 84 on the women's team. A total of 28 honorees garnered a 4.00 grade point average.

First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.

To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
