IRVING, Texas – Baylor men’s golf tied for the conference lead with six Academic All-Big 12 selections, as announced Monday by the league office.

Ryan Grider, Brandon Hoff, Colin Kober, Travis McInroe and Mark Reppe earned Academic All-Big 12 First-Team honors, while Cooper Dossey was a Second-Team selection.

Players are eligible for Academic All-Big 12 honors after they’ve completed a full year in residence, and for a fourth-consecutive season every eligible Baylor golfer was recognized. Baylor’s four freshmen were not eligible, but they will be considered for the Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team.

Kober and Dossey earned their fourth Academic All-Big 12 honors. Kober was on the First Team for a third-consecutive season, Dossey was a 2020 Second-Team honoree after being on the First Team in 2018 and 2019, and both were 2017 Rookie-Team selections. Kober was one of three men’s golfers in the conference to record a perfect 4.0 GPA.

Dossey and Kober joined Braden Bailey, Garrett May, Andreas Gjesteby and Bill Allcorn as the only four-time Academic All-Big 12 honorees in program history. Kober joined Bailey and Gjesteby as the only Bears to earn Rookie Team recognition in their debut seasons and follow with three-consecutive First-Team honors. Allcorn is the program’s only four-time First-Team selection, but Kober will have a chance to join him in 2021, while both Kober and Dossey can become the first five-time Academic All-Big 12 honorees in program history next season.

Travis McInroe earned his third-consecutive First-Team honor, while Ryan Grider and Mark Reppe were recognized for their third-straight seasons after earning Rookie-Team recognition in 2018 and First-Team honors in 2019 and 2020. Brandon Hoff was named to the 2020 First Team after being a 2019 Rookie-Team selection.

Baylor has now had 87 Academic All-Big 12 honorees in the conference’s 24-year history, with 60 First-Team selections, 17 on Second Teams, eight on the Rookie Teams and two honorable mentions. At least five Bears have earned league academic honors in all six seasons under head coach Mike McGraw, after the Bears had five or more honorees in one of 18 seasons prior to his arrival.

BU players have combined to earn 43 Academic All-Big 12 honors during the six-year McGraw era after picking up 44 such honors in the league’s first 18 seasons.

Nominated by each institution's director of student-athlete support services, the Academic All-Big 12 men's golf team consisted of 35 First-Team honorees and 10 Second-Team selections. To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher, while freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence.

Baylor finished the 2019-20 season ranked No. 9 nationally. The Bears finished top-two in four of six stroke-play events, including tournament titles at the Gopher Invitational and the Fighting Illini Invitational and runner-up finishes at the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate and the Arizona Intercollegiate.
