IRVING, Texas – Baylor women’s golf placed five players on the 2020 Academic All-Big 12 Women’s Golf Teams, the league office announced Monday morning.

The Bears have now had at least five honorees in five consecutive seasons. Diane Baillieux, Gurleen Kaur, Fiona Liddell and Jordan Shackelford earned Academic All-Big 12 First-Team honors, while Erica Chiang was a Second-Team selection.

Players are eligible for Academic All-Big 12 First and Second Teams after they’ve completed a full year in residence, and all five Bears who have been on the team for more than a year earned Academic All-Big 12 honors. The Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team is released in the summer, and the remaining players on the BU roster will be eligible for the Rookie Team.

Liddell picked up Academic All-Big 12 recognition for a fourth-consecutive season. She was recognized on the Rookie Team in 2017 and has been a First-Team selection in 2018, 2019 and 2020.

Kaur, Shackelford and Baillieux are all three-time Academic All-Big 12 honorees. Kaur was on the Rookie Team in 2018, earned Second-Team honors in 2019 and was a First-Team selection in 2020, while Baillieux and Shackelford were named to the Rookie Team in 2018 and were First-Team honorees in 2019 and 2020. Chiang picked up her first Academic All-Big 12 honor as a 2020 Second-Team selection.

BU has now had 86 Academic All-Big 12 Team honorees in the league’s 24-year history, 54 of which were First-Team selections. Baylor has had 14 Academic All-Big 12 Second-Team honorees, three honorable mention selections and 15 Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team members.

BU has placed at least three golfers on Academic All-Big 12 Teams in seven consecutive seasons, and the Bears have earned 49 total honors during the nine-year tenure of head coach Jay Goble after combining for 37 honors in the league’s first 15 years.

To qualify for Academic All-Big 12 Teams, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence.

Baylor finished the 2019-20 season ranked No. 20 nationally according to Golfstat. The Bears were on track to make their eighth NCAA Tournament appearance in nine seasons under head coach Jay Goble before COVID-19 prematurely ended all spring sports seasons.
