WACO, Texas – Baylor cross country led the way with a conference-high 23 Academic All-Big 12 selections, including a league-high 15 on the women’s team, the conference office announced.

The Bears had 14 women’s first team selections, including senior Isabella Lackner and sophomore Mazie Larsen achieving 4.00 grade point averages. Lauren Ammons, Sarah Antrich, Brooke Bonadies, Haley Everroad, Sydney Gandy, Sadie Hamrin, Celia Holmes, Jamie Holodak, Madelaine Johnston, Hana Marsheck, Katy Parsons and Gabby Satterlee all earned first team honors, while Lindsay Walton garnered second team honors.

The men’s team had seven first-team selections, including Alec Atteberry, Ryan Day, Matt Henderson, Ryan Hodge, Cal Johnston, Connor Laktasic and Jake Merrell. J.B. Sandlund took home second team honors to give the Bears a total of eight men’s honorees.

The 2019 Academic All-Big 12 Cross Country Team honored 155 student-athletes with 61 selections on the men’s team and 94 on the women’s team. A total of 22 honorees garnered a 4.00 grade point average.

First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.

To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team’s scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
