WAKING UP THE BATS

• In the series-clinching victory over Cal Poly on Sunday, the bats woke up, as the Bears tallied a season-best 22 hits, the most by a Baylor team since collecting 24 vs. Kansas State on April 27, 2018. The 22 hits at Baylor Ballpark were the most since having 23 on May 18, 2017 vs. Kansas State.

• The Bears boast the ninth-highest batting average in the nation (.314). The Bears rank sixth with 2.67 doubles per game and are seventh with 48 total doubles on the year. The Bears’ on-base percentage of .398 is 43rd-best in the nation, while the can do a lot of different things with the bat as the team’s slugging percentage (.497) ranks eighth. The Bears’ fielding percentage of 0.981 ranks ninth nationally. The team also ranks 10th with just 6.5 hits allowed per nine innings.

• Individually, Winston also ranks 29th nationally with a 0.93 ERA.

• The Bears rank second in the Big 12 with a team batting average of .313 and Wendzel’s batting average of .414 ranks tops in the conference, while Loftin’s .342 average is 10th. Wendzel ranks second in the conference in hits (29), while Loftin ranks fifth with 26 and Cunningham is tied for seventh with 25. Wendzel ranks second with eight doubles, Andy Thomas ranks tied for second with eight and Cunningham is tied for sixth with seven. The Bears also hold down the four, five and nine spots in the total bases category, with Wendzel in fourth with 46, Loftin next with 43 and Cunningham in ninth with 39. • On the mound, the Bears are have the fourth-best ERA at 3.17, but lead the conference with an opposing batting average of .203. Individually, Jimmy Winston leads the conference with a 0.93 ERA in 19.1 innings pitched over nine appearances.
