IRVING, Texas – Baylor women’s golf tied for the conference lead with five players on the 2019 Academic All-Big 12 Women’s Golf Teams, the league office announced Thursday.

Players are eligible for Academic All-Big 12 First and Second Teams after they’ve completed a full year in residence, and all five members of the BU roster to meet that qualification were recognized.

Diane Baillieux, Fiona Liddell, Jordan Shackelford and Maria Vesga earned first-team honors, while Gurleen Kaur was named to the second team. This marks the fourth consecutive season the Bears have placed five players on the Academic All-Big 12 First and Second Teams.

Vesga was recognized on the first team for a third-consecutive season, while Liddell picked up first-team honors for a second-straight year. Baillieux, Shackelford and Kaur were also repeat selections after earning Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team honors last season.

BU has now had 78 Academic All-Big 12 honorees in the league’s 23-year history, 50 of which were first team selections. Baylor has had 13 Academic All-Big 12 Second Team honorees, three honorable mention selections and 12 Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team members.

BU has placed at least three golfers on Academic All-Big 12 teams in six consecutive seasons, and the Bears have earned 41 total honors during the eight-year tenure of head coach Jay Goble after combining for 37 honors in the league’s first 15 years.

To qualify for Academic All-Big 12 teams, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher and must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence, and seniors who have participated for at least two years are exempt from the participation requirement.

Baylor, which is ranked No. 32 nationally in the latest Golfstat rankings, has completed its regular season and next competes at the 2019 Big 12 Championship. The three-day tournament runs Sunday through Tuesday at Golf Club of Oklahoma in Broken Arrow, Okla. Follow @BaylorWGolf on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook for updates throughout the season.
