WACO, Texas – Five Baylor football student-athletes have earned Academic All-District honors from the College Sports Communicators (CSC), as announced Tuesday by the organization.

Clark Barrington, Kyler Jordan, Treven Ma’ae, Brooks Miller and Jake Roberts each garnered recognition thanks to their work in the classroom and on the playing field. Barrington is also eligible for Academic All-America honors, which will be announced in January.

Student-athletes are recognized by CSC members for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom. To be considered, one must accumulate a cumulative GPA above 3.50 with at least a sophomore athletic and academic standing, while being a starter or key reserve for their respective team. In football, student-athletes must have competed in 90 percent of their team’s games played or have started at least 66 percent of games.

Barrington, a fifth-year senior from Spokane, Wash., stepped right into a leadership role on BU’s offensive line in his first season in Waco. The BYU transfer started all 12 games for the Bears and compiled a team-leading 77.4 O-Line grade, per Pro Football Focus. He was named to multiple award watch lists throughout the season, including the Lone Star Player of the Year and Rimington Trophy, which honors the nation’s top center. Barrington holds a 3.80 GPA in his post baccalaureate work after previously graduating from BYU.

A redshirt freshman from Lubbock, Texas, Jordan saw his first significant action of his collegiate career in 2023. He made six starts at the JACK position, racked up 12 tackles and nabbed his first-career interception in the Week 2 contest against Utah. An accounting and finance major, Jordan boasts a perfect 4.00 GPA.

In his first season with the Bears, Ma’ae contributed nine tackles, two QB hurries and a pass breakup. The redshirt junior defensive lineman transferred to Baylor from Oregon, where he previously earned his undergrad degree. He now owns an unblemished 4.00 GPA in his post baccalaureate work at BU.

Miller, a redshirt junior linebacker from West Monroe, La., graduated this December from Baylor with a degree in health, kinesiology and leisure studies. He compiled a 3.64 GPA across his time in Waco and produced a career-high 31 tackles in 2023. In Week 9’s matchup against Iowa State, Miller recovered a fumble as part of a season-best eight-tackle performance that included his lone TFL of the year.

Another Baylor newcomer, Roberts joined the Bears from North Texas and caught 23 passes for 231 yards and a touchdown in 2023. He has produced a 3.68 GPA as a health, kinesiology and leisure studies major. The redshirt junior tight end from Norman, Okla., caught his first TD in green and gold in Week 8 at Cincinnati and recorded six multi-catch efforts on the year.
