WACO, Texas – Linebacker Terrel Bernard has been named one of the finalists for the Pop Warner College Football Award, announced on Friday. The award was established in 2010 to recognize a graduating student-athlete who has made a difference on the field, in the classroom and in his community, and serves as a role model to Pop Warner’s young student athletes.

Bernard was leading the Big 12 in tackles per game (11.0), tied for fourth in tackles-for-loss (1.30) and fifth in sacks per game (.70) before suffering a season-ending shoulder injury against Iowa State. Off the field, Bernard has made a lasting impact in the community, in the classroom and as a leader.

In the community, Bernard has volunteered with various organizations in his time at Baylor, including Pack of Hope, NoLimitations, The Salvation Army and Local 254 Kid Clinic, among others. In the classroom, he has been named First Team All-Academic Big 12 twice, while already completing his undergraduate degree in health, kinesiology & leisure studies in August 2020.

Other finalists include linebacker Devin Lloyd (Utah), safety Malik Antoine (Stanford), tight end Miller Forristall (Alabama), tackle Landon Young (Kentucky) and quarterback Ian Book (Notre Dame). The Pop Warner Little Scholars National College Football Award will be announced December 17.
