No. 10 Baylor MT Returns Home for Go Gold Match Against No. 1 Ohio State

WACO, Texas – Baylor men’s tennis is returning to the Hurd Tennis Center to play No. 1 Ohio State on Thursday at 6 p.m. CT for its one of four March home matches.



Baylor (8-5) are facing the Buckeyes following their 4-3 win in Houston against Rice. Baylor has Connor Van Schalkwyk to thank for its win versus the Owls, after he earned his fifth straight singles victory of the season with a 7-5, 6-3 final score.



Baylor will rely on its competitive line up and nationally ranked players to earn a win against the top-ranked Ohio State (12-1). The Bears boast No. 12 Devin Badenhorst, No. 23 Van Schalkwyk, No. 53 Zsombor Velcz, and No. 91 Alexandru Chirita for singles.



Ohio State has a strong roster with six nationally ranked singles players and five nationally ranked doubles teams. Their doubles team Brandon Carpico and Nikita Filin currently hold the No. 1 spot.



Ohio State’s only loss this season was against No. 2 Texas in the finals of the ITA National Indoor Championship.



Fans attending the match are encouraged to wear gold. There will be a gold t-shirt giveaway at the match as well as Cub Club member-specific items.
