WACO, Texas -- Senior Jonas Appel fired a final-round 72 to finish 30th and lead Baylor men’s golf in the three-day Fighting Illini Invitational, hosted by Illinois at Olympia Fields Country Club.



Baylor finished the event in 14th place with a 33-over final score that featured a 295 on day one, and a 285 on day two and a 295 on day three.



The Bears were led by Appel, who fired a 71-70-72 over the three-day event to finish tied for 30th.



Vincent Stjernfeldt had a 75-71-73 to place 53rd.



Davis Ovard placed tied for 59th with a 75-72-74.



Alex Heard finished tied for 71st with a 74-72-79, while Martin Kemp finished in 81st with a 77-81-76 tournament.



The Bears will return to action on Oct. 5-7 with the SMU Invitational.
