ORLANDO, Fla. – Taliah Scott poured in a season-high 32 points, becoming the first Baylor player to score 30 points or more in a game since Aaronette Vonleh’s 37-point performance against Oklahoma State in the 2025 Big 12 Championship, but the No. 7 Bears fell, 57–52, to No. 19 Iowa on Thursday night at the ESPN Wide World of Sports’ State Farm Field House within the Walt Disney World Resort.
Scott carried Baylor offensively, knocking down six 3-pointers and scoring 12 of the Bears’ 13 fourth-quarter points.
The Bears built a 28-25 halftime lead, hitting 40.7% of their 27 shot attempts, while holding Iowa to just 26.5%. Back from the break, Baylor led by as many as seven in the third, but Iowa answered with a 16–11 frame with BU shooting just 17.6% before a 16-13 fourth quarter that saw the Bears at 20.0%.
Bella Fontleroy grabbed a season-high nine rebounds and added four points while anchoring a strong defensive effort that kept Baylor in front for much of the night. Darianna Littlepage-Buggs pulled down 12 rebounds, her 45th career game with double-digit boards, but the Bears lost the battle of the boards to Iowa, 47-41.
The Hawkeyes used a 7-1 run in the last five minutes to pull away from the Bears and held BU without a field goal from the 6:56 mark to the end of the game.
BU is back in action in the WBCA Showcase on Saturday afternoon, facing Davidson at 4:30 p.m. CT on ESPN+.
