WACO, Texas – Fresh off another NCAA Championship appearance, Baylor women’s golf announced the signing of Illinois transfer Yurang Li on Thursday.

A native of Fullerton, Calif., she played two seasons in Champaign, carding 51 rounds across 17 tournaments over the last two seasons. Bringing in a couple of impact transfers over the last few seasons in Sera Hasegawa and Bridget Boczar, head coach Jay Goble feels like Li can have a similar impact on his team.

"Yurang is a really talented player who knows what it takes to compete at a high level in big-time college golf," he said. "We expect to get to La Costa every year and as a Southern California native, Yurang is here to go back home and help us hopefully raise a championship trophy next year."

Li was a mainstay in Illinois' lineup a season ago, finishing second on the team with a stroke average of 73.64 across 33 rounds. Her sophomore season was highlighted by a career-best tie for ninth at the Boilermaker Spring Classic last month, helping the Illini claim the team title by a shot.

Last summer, she claimed the 110th Canadian Women’s Amateur Championship. Entering the final round in third place, she used a final-round 69 to overtake Momo Sugiyama and Ashley Zozlowski to win by a shot at Royal Colwood Golf Club in Victoria, British Columbia.

As a freshman at Illinois, Li played the final six events of the season, notching a stroke average of 74.11, highlighted by a tie for 22nd at the Chevron Collegiate at the Golf Club of Houston.

The 2024 All-American Scholar signed with the Illini after a decorated junior career at Sunny Hills High School in California. A three-time team MVP for the Lancers, she captured individual medalist honors at the 2023 CIF Southern Section after helping lead them to a team championship in the 2021 season.
