WACO, Texas – Baylor women’s basketball head coach Nicki Collen announced the addition of Auburn transfer guard Taliah Scott to the program on Monday afternoon.

“We are thrilled to welcome Taliah and her family to the Baylor Family,” said Collen. “Taliah is a dynamic and proven scorer with the ability to play both guard positions in our system. She has the skill to create for herself and others and the range to make defenses extend well behind the arc. We love guards with high basketball IQs who excel in ball screens, and we believe Taliah will be one of the best guards in the country.”

Only playing three games with the Tigers in her lone season at Auburn, Scott averaged 20.3 points per game with two 20-point contests against Little Rock and No. 23 Oregon. Her Auburn debut against the Trojans saw records fall, as the sophomore tied the team record of eight 3-pointers in a single game, also breaking the Neville Arena best mark in her first and only showing on the navy and orange court.

Before her year at Auburn. Scott averaged 22.1 points per game in 20 appearances with the Arkansas Razorbacks, averaging 22.1 points per game and earning SEC All-Freshman Team honors. She was named SEC Freshman of the Week five times and led Arkansas in scoring and free-throw percentage (83.8%), along with league-high marks for points and minutes per game.

The 2023-24 campaign in Fayetteville held 19 double-digit scoring efforts for Scott with 13 games seeing 20 or more points and three hitting the 30-point mark. Her career-high day of 34 points against Arkansas State still stands after shooting 12-of-21 with a perfect nine-of-nine showing at the free throw line.

Scott was named to the West Palm Beach Classic All-Tournament Team with the Razorbacks after averaging 21.5 points in a pair of games against Illinois and UIC.

The Orange Park, Fla., native was a McDonald’s All-American and was named the Gatorade Florida Girls’ Basketball Player of the Year along with the Florida Dairy Famers Miss Basketball award. Smith was No. 11 in the class of 2023 as a five-star recruit and was honorable mention on the Naismith High School Girls All-American team.

Scott’s high school career at St. Johns Country Day School ended with 2,735 points after eclipsing the 1,000-point mark her sophomore season. The guard was also named the Florida Times Union All-First Coast Player of the Year, News4Jax Girls Basketball Player of the Year and a MaxPreps Junior All-American.

“Our fans will love her infectious smile, her energy and how much she loves to compete on both ends of the floor,” Collen said. “Get ready Baylor Family, this one is special!”

The 2024-25 Baylor squad finished the season with a 28-8 record while matching Collen’s best Big 12 record at 15-3. BU finished second in the Big 12 regular season, advanced to its 16th Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship final and hosted the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament for the 11th time in program history.
