ATLANTA, Ga. – Baylor football redshirt senior quarterback Sawyer Robertson has been named to the 2025 Allstate Wuerffel Trophy Watch List, as announced Thursday by the Wuerffel Foundation.

Robertson is one of a record 116 candidates nominated for this year’s award, which recognizes student-athletes who exemplify community service, academic excellence and athletic achievement. The Wuerffel Trophy is named after Danny Wuerffel, the 1996 Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback from the University of Florida who parlayed his success on the football field into a lifetime of service. Widely regarded as college football’s premier award for community service, the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy celebrates student-athletes who use their platforms to serve others and create positive change.

In his time away from the gridiron, Robertson has volunteered with No Limitations of Waco for over three years, serving as an on-field buddy for children with special needs to compete in a flag football Super Bowl event. Additionally, Robertson was an integral member in the coordination and execution of Baylor’s inaugural Baylor Blitz, a youth camp and clinic held before the finale of spring practice.

Robertson also participated in the Depelchin Field Day for youth in the Houston area as part of the 2024 Texas Bowl, leading groups of young athletes through drills. He also visited the local Houston children’s hospital in conjunction with the team’s trip. As well, Robertson helped deliver and distribute toys to underprivileged children during the 2024 holiday season as part of Mission Waco’s Toy Drive.

Beyond his efforts in the community, Robertson is also an academic and spiritual leader for the Bears. He posted a 3.73 GPA and was named a College Sports Communicators Academic All-District and Academic All-Big 12 team member in 2024. Robertson’s commitment to Baylor’s Christian mission is undeniable, as he was also selected to be part of BU’s inaugural Champions [re]Defined spiritual retreat, an experience that brings student-athletes together to explore what it truly means to be a champion in sport and in life.

On the field, the BU signal caller had a breakout 2024 campaign and led the Bears to eight wins, including six in a row to end the regular season. He threw for 3,071 yards with 28 TDs and just eight interceptions, completing 62.2 percent of his passes. He also rushed 63 times for 230 yards with four TDs. Robertson ranked among the tops in single-season program history in passing efficiency, passing yards, completions, completion percentages, TDs and TD:INT ratio. He had four 300+-yard passing games and threw for a career-high 445 yards with two scores vs. LSU in the Texas Bowl.

For the second consecutive year, the Wuerffel Foundation is partnering with Allstate to unite college football’s top community service honors. Eleven of the watch list nominees will be named to the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team and will be Allstate Wuerffel Trophy semifinalists. The award’s finalists and recipient will be selected by an illustrious national voting committee, including a fan vote component, and announced on ESPN’s Home Depot College Football Awards Show on December 12. The Allstate Wuerffel Trophy Presentation Gala will take place on January 31, 2026, at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta, Ga.
