LEADING OFF
• Baylor Baseball welcomes HCU in another midweek contest before heading to rival TCU this weekend for a three-game series in Fort Worth.
• BU is coming off a series win against Utah in which the Bears responded after dropping Thursday's opener to take a 4-3 victory on Friday, fueled by Tyriq Kemp's<https://baylorbears.com/sports/baseball/roster/tyriq-kemp/13517> big day, then shut out the Utes on Saturday, 9-0.
• Kemp went 4-for-4 and drove in all four runs on Friday, hitting a go-ahead home run in the bottom of the eighth, his second long ball of the day, and finishing a double shy of the cycle.
• Senior INF Will Pendergrass<https://baylorbears.com/sports/baseball/roster/will-pendergrass/13520> hit a grand slam on Saturday, BU's first of the year, after being reinserted into the lineup.
• Southpaws Mason Green<https://baylorbears.com/sports/baseball/roster/mason-green/13512> and Bryson Bales<https://baylorbears.com/sports/baseball/roster/bryson-bales/14021> led a combined no-hit bid into the eighth inning on Saturday, before the Utes singled off right-handed reliever Grayson Murry<https://baylorbears.com/sports/baseball/roster/grayson-murry/14033>, one of their two hits on the day.
• The victory marked BU's third shutout of the season, the most in a single season since 2022 (3).
• Baylor is currently in a tie for seventh place in the Big 12 standings at 8-10 in the league, alongside Cincinnati and Texas Tech. The top 12 teams in the conference standings this season will qualify for the Big 12 Championship Tournament in Arlington, Texas at Globe Life Field, home of the Texas Rangers.
