Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024

  * Baylor opened up the 2024 Battle 4 Atlantis with a 101-55 win over the Southern Miss Lady Eagles on Saturday afternoon in Atlantis’ Imperial Arena.
  * The Bears shot 57.4, their best of the season from the floor, and 44.1% from three.
  * 15 threes on the afternoon was Baylor’s best since their program-record-setting 17-triple performance against McNeese last November.
  * BU won its first game outside of Foster Pavilion and its first game on a neutral site this season.
  * Nicki Collen upped her win total in the month of November to 22 and is 72-6 when leading at the half.
  * Collen is 78-29 in her fourth season leading the Bears.
  * Saturday’s game is the third time in the Collen era that the Bears eclipsed the 100-point mark.
  * The Bears picked up their second win against the Lady Eagles to take the 2-1 advantage in the series. It was the first time the two teams faced off in nine years.
  * Baylor held Southern Miss at 2-for-9 from three. 22.2% was the second-best defensive effort beyond the arc this season.
  * Saturday afternoon’s win is the 14th for the program all-time outside of the United States, staying unscathed with zero losses. Collen’s Bears are also still perfect with their fourth win abroad.
  * Darianna Littlepage-Buggs lead the Bears in scoring for the third time in five games this season, totaling 19 with seven rebounds.
  * Littlepage-Buggs didn’t commit a single foul in the contest but drew seven.
  * Jada Walker’s 17 points came in 30 minutes on the court, going 7-for-10 from the floor and 1-for-2 beyond the arc.
  * Walker dished out eight assists, tying the second-most from any Bear this season only behind her own 10-assist performance to open the campaign against Incarnate Word.
  * Sarah Andrews and Bella Fontleroy each drained four 3-pointers each, en route to Andrew’s 14 points on the evening and Fontleroy’s 15.
  * Fontleroy was one three shy of her tying her career-best record.
  * Yaya Felder’s 17 points were her most of the season and the most of her Baylor career while she led the team in rebounds at eight.
  * Felder added to Baylor’s three total, sinking three to tie her best mark in the green and gold.
  * Waiata Jennings was 2-for-5 from three in her first multi-triple game as a Bear.
  * Freshman Kayla Nelms had double-digit points in her collegiate career in four games played. Four added to her career ups the total to 12.
  * Baylor started Jada Walker, Sarah Andrews, Darianna Littlepage-Buggs, Aaronette Vonleh and Bella Fontleroy for the fifth time this season in as many games.

     * Walker is 30-9, Andrews is 75-30, Littlepage-Buggs is 42-16, Fontleroy is 25-11 and Vonleh is 4-1 as starters at Baylor.

  * Baylor continues the Battle 4 Atlantis against either Indiana or Columbia on Sunday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. CT. The game will be streamed on FloCollege.
