Story lines
• No.13/15 Baylor takes on No. 22/21 St. John’s in the opening round of Continental Tire Baha Mar Hoops Bahamas Championship in Nassau, Bahamas.
• Thursday’s matchup will be Baylor’s third against a ranked opponent this season (1-1)
• Baylor is 14-3 against the Big East during the Scott Drew era
• BU is 33-17 against ranked teams over the last four seasons, including a 16-13 mark away from home
• The Bears are one of five programs to be ranked inside the top-10 in each of the last six seasons
• This meeting will be the second between Drew and Rick Pitino, with Drew and the Bears beating Pitino’s Louisville Cardinals in the 2016 Battle 4 Atlantis Championship game 66-63
• Two of the winningest families in College basketball history, The Drew’s (Scott, Bryce and Homer) have combined for 1,367 wins as a family, which trails only the Iba family for most wins by a father-son combination (1,632). Rick and Richard Pitino rank fifth with 958 career wins between the two of them

• Against Sam Houston, the Bears had seven players score in double figures, the first time since 2013 BU has accomplished that feat
• Baylor has not trailed since the end of the Gonzaga game, leading for a total of 116:54 of game time, while being tied for just 3:05 during that stretch.
• The last time Baylor didn’t trail in three-straight games was Dec. 20, 2021-Jan. 1, 2022 (Alcorn State, Northwestern State & Iowa State)
• Baylor’s 30 assists against SHSU were its most since it had 30 against McNeese Nov. 23, 2022
• Norchad Omier and VJ Edgecombe both recorded double-doubles against the Bearkats, the second time in a six-game stretch BU had multiple players notch a double-double in the same game
• With two double-doubles in his first three games this year, Omier is the first player since Lawrence Roberts in 2001 with two in the first three games of a Baylor career
