WACO, Texas – Baylor women’s golf added another big piece to its 2025-26 roster on Friday with the signing of Obi Chan from Hong Kong.

Chan comes to Waco on the heels of a decorated junior career with three wins and 18 top-5s worldwide over the last year and a half. Head coach Jay Goble looks forward to adding Chan to a talented roster for next season.

"We are very excited to have Obi join our team next year," Goble said. "She is a very talented player who has a very bright future ahead of her. We loved her enthusiasm for golf and know she will be a valuable asset to our team."

One of Chan's three wins came in her last start in mid-October at the second qualifying stage for the Southeast Asia Junior International Open, where she set the pace with an opening-round 69, notching a wire-to-wire victory.

Playing most of her junior golf in Asia, Chan has experienced success on American soil, finishing second at the Coca-Cola Junior Championships at the Highlands after shooting a final-round 71 to earn a spot in a four-way playoff. She also tied for 13th against a strong field at the FCG Callaway World Championship in Rancho Mirage, Calif. It was her second-straight top-15 in the event after she finished 10th the previous season.

Currently ranked 1,048th in the World Amateur Golf Rankings, The Hong Kong native peaked this summer at 973 on the heels of her second-place finish at the Coca-Cola.

She joins another talented signee in England’s Amelia Wan, who signed with the Bears back in November.

Goble’s current crop of Bears are coming off a strong fall season and will enter the spring ranked No. 27, aiming to make a fifth-straight NCAA Championship later this spring. They will open up the semester on Jan. 27, 2025, at the Match in the Desert in Superstition Mountain, Ariz.
