WACO, Texas – Baylor women's golf has added Malena Castro for the spring of 2025, head coach Jay Goble announced Monday.

“Malena brings a significant amount of international tournament golf experience to our team,” Goble said. “She will start at Baylor in January and will help us build a strong team in preparation for the postseason. I see her being a fixture in our lineup for many years to come.”

A native of General Pico, Argentina, Castro has had a strong season, notching seven top-5 finishes in 2024, highlighted by a pair of second-place finishes on the Argentina Golf Association circuit.

Currently ranked 474th in the Women’s World Amateur Golf Ranking, she has played 44 events over the past two years with 34 top-10 finishes and six wins. Last December, she won the IMG Academy Junior World Florida Challenge and followed it up with a 10th-place finish at the First Tee Miami Doral Junior and a 14th-place finish against a strong field at the Junior Orange Bowl International.

The Bears will open the season early next month when they tee it up at the Folds of Honor Collegiate Sept. 9-11 at American Dunes Golf Club in Grand Haven, Mich., with the Golf Channel providing live coverage of all three rounds.
