WACO, Texas – Baylor baseball head coach Mitch Thompson announced Monday the additions of redshirt junior outfielder Enzo Apodaca and redshirt sophomore infielder Ryan Martinez to the 2024 roster.

Apodaca, a transfer from Gonzaga, is a career .280 hitter with six home runs, 68 RBIs and 14 stolen bases under his belt. He played in 108 games over two seasons with the Bulldogs, earning Freshman All-America status and All-WCC Honorable Mention recognition as a redshirt freshman in 2022. That season, Apodaca led the team with 67 hits, 47 runs, 45 RBIs and 19 doubles.

In 2023, the product of Chaparral High School in Scottsdale, Ariz., nearly matched his statline from the ’22 campaign with increased marks in batting average (.281), slugging percentage (.422) and on-base percentage (.382), despite playing in four fewer games. This summer, Apodaca starred in the Cape Cod League for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox, hitting .264 with a .352 OBP and being named a CCBL All-Star.

Martinez, a native of Towson, Md., spent his first two collegiate seasons at University of San Francisco, where he played in 36 career games after redshirting his true freshman season. In 2023, Martinez collected 26 hits for a .222 average, including two home runs and 12 RBIs, while adding a .962 fielding percentage. He scored 17 runs on the year, tallied four multi-hit games, including a career-best three-hit game against Villanova on March 5, and posted two multi-RBI efforts.

Martinez also maintained above a 3.20 cumulative grade point average to earn All-Academic Honorable Mention honors in the West Coast Conference in 2023.

The duo becomes the third and fourth offseason additions out of the transfer portal for the Bears, joining sophomore infielder Jack Little and junior right-handed pitcher Patrick Hail.
