STORYLINES

LEADING OFF

• Baylor concludes its five-game homestand with a midweek matchup against Tarleton in Waco.

• The Bears are 2-2 on this current homestand and have won 3 of 5 homestands so far this season.

• BU currently sits in seventh place in the Big 12 standings at 5-13 in conference play, with 2 Big 12 series remaining.

• The Bears continue to turn double plays at a high rate, leading the Big 12 and ranking second nationally with 47 total twin killings and 1.07 per game.

• BU has recorded at least one extra-base hit in each of its last 23 games, have notched at least two XBH in 12 of its last 13 games and have bashed 13 extra-base hits on this current homestand.

BY THE NUMBERS

• Baylor and Tarleton have not played since 1908, where Baylor's record books show that no official score was reported.

• This will be the first meeting between the two sides since Tarleton made the jump to Division I in 2020.

• Baylor is 3-1 against WAC teams in 2022, with wins over Abilene Christian, Lamar and Sam Houston.

• The Bears are 51-18 under seventh-year head coach Steve Rodriguez in midweek contests.

• Sophomore 2B Tre Richardson has an assist in 34 of those 47 twin killings so far this season.

NEVIN JUST KEEPS HITTING

• Since April 12, Kyle Nevin has been one of the league's hottest hitters, batting .462 (24-for-52) with 13 extra-base hits.

• He was named the Big 12 Player of the Week on April 18 after leading the league with nine total hits and 19 total bases, while ranking second in batting average (.563), home runs (2), RBIs (7) and slugging percentage (1.188) on the week.

• Nevin has hits in 12 of his last 13 games, including a career-high five in his most recent game on Sunday vs. Texas Tech.

• The third-year sophomore outfielder became the first Bear since Shea Langeliers in 2019 to log five hits in a single game.

• He also tied the program record for most doubles in a Big 12 game with three.
