NORMAN, Okla. – Baylor women's golf senior Gurleen Kaur made history Tuesday when she was selected to Team USA for the 2022 Palmer Cup, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
The team comprises 24 of the best men's and women's college golfers, and the senior is the first player in program history to make the women’s team. Graduate transfer Addie Baggarly made the United States team in 2020 when she was at the University of Florida, joining BU’s Cooper Dossey on that USA team.
For the first time in BU’s history, the Bears will have two representatives on the same team after Johnny Keefer was selected as one of 12 men on the team.
The United States and Europe Palmer Cup teams were revealed Tuesday afternoon on Golf Channel. The 2022 Palmer Cup will take place July 1-3, 2022, at Golf Club de Genève, in Vandœuvres, Switzerland.
Kaur is ranked 22nd nationally in the latest Golfstat Division I player rankings. The senior has left her mark all over the Baylor record books, currently on pace to break her own single-season stroke average by over .50 strokes (71.44). She picked up her fourth-career win earlier this season at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational, making her the winningest golfer in program history.
Fresh off a second-place finish at the Bruzzy Challenge, the Houston native notched her team-leading fifth top-5 finish of the season. This year, she moved into third place in BU history in career-top-5s with 12 and fourth place in career-top-10s with 20. She currently ranks third in career stroke average (72.40). Kaur ranks fourth in program history in career rounds played with 135 and is poised to set the program record in the NCAA regionals next month.
The Arnold Palmer Cup was co-founded by Arnold Palmer and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) and began at the Bay Hill Club & Lodge, Orlando, Fla., in 1997. The event is a Ryder Cup-style tournament featuring the top men’s and women’s university/college golfers matching the United States against a team of International players. The Palmer Cup has been played at some of the world’s greatest courses, including The Old Course at St. Andrews, The Royal County Down, Royal Portrush, Baltusrol, The Honors Course and Cherry Hills. Beginning with the 2018 matches at Evian Resort Golf Club, the Arnold Palmer Cup is the only major tournament which features men and women playing side-by-side as partners.

Kaur and the rest of the Baylor women’s golf team will compete in the Big 12 Championship, which starts Friday at The Clubs at Houston Oaks in Hockley, Texas.
