OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. – Fresh off their 8th-place finish at the Maridoe Collegiate invitational, The Baylor men’s golf team will return to action on Friday at the Fighting Illini Invitational at Olympia Fields Country Club.

The Bears are one of 13 teams in the 15-team field that are ranked or receiving votes in the Bushnell/Golfweek Preseason Coaches’ poll. Head Coach Mike McGraw is looking forward to seeing his players test themselves against some of the best in the country, once again.

“The field in the Fighting Illini is annually one of the toughest in all of college golf,” he said. “Everything about this event inspires me.”

The Bears tied for the team title in their last trip to Olympia Fields, in 2019, with a 6-over 846, a performance highlighted by Cooper Dossey’s individual-medalist honors. After missing out on the event in 2020, McGraw is excited to get back to a course that has a rich history of hosting big-time events.

“Olympia Fields is one of the finest courses we get to play each year, such a terrific place,” he said. “Regardless of your score, you will be a better player after three rounds here.”

The Bears will play in threesomes with California and Purdue. They will be led by Johnny Keefer, who finished 5th on Wednesday at the Maridoe Collegiate Invitational. He will go off the first tee at 10:06 a.m.

Mark Reppe will remain in the No. 2 spot after a t-20 finish his last time out at Maridoe, where he posted three counting scores for the Bears. Reppe will tee off at 9:57 a.m. off the No. 1 tee.

Sophomore Trey Bosco, fresh off his even-par 72 on Wednesday in Carrollton, will tee off in the No. 3 spot at 9:48 a.m.

Junior Luke Dossey, who posted three counting scores earlier this week on his way to a t-28 finish, will tee off No. 1 at 9:39 a.m.

Freshman and Illinois native Drew Wrightson will get the start in his home state. Wrightson finished t-60 in his first collegiate event at Maridoe. He will lead things off for the Bears at 9:30 a.m.

The 54-Hole event will run through Sunday. You can follow along with live stats at Golfstat.com.<http://results.golfstat.com/public/leaderboards/gsnav.cfm?pg=pairings&tid=23470>
