FORT WORTH, Texas – No. 6 Baylor volleyball defeated TCU on Saturday night in Schollmaier Arena, 3-2, to take the series in Fort Worth.

The Bears (16-5, 10-2) fought tooth and nail with the Horned Frogs (8-14, 2-10) to a fifth set and defeated TCU, 24-26, 25-15, 18-25, 25-20, 15-11.

Yossiana Pressley continued to shine for BU, having a 26-kill night against the Frogs with a .354 attack percentage. Not to be outdone, she had a double-double, pairing her kills with 12 digs.

Avery Skinner also had a double-double, posting 10 kills and 12 digs.

Andressa Parise and Callie Williams showed up for the Bears, coming in clutch in tight moments and making big plays. Parise had seven kills on the night, a career-high for the senior, with a hitting percentage of .385. Williams recorded 20 assists as well as two aces for Baylor.

HOW IT HAPPENED
SET ONE
The Bears started off hot with Yossiana Pressley and Andressa Parise both getting kills to begin. Avery Skinner served up an ace to make it 4-all. Andressa Parise added a kill to the board to make it 5-5. A Marieke van der Mark kill made it 7-7, continuing the trading of points with the Frogs. Pressley tied it up once again at 10-10. A Lauren Harrison kill put the Bears up one over TCU, 13-12. The back and forth kept going, with Hannah Sedwick dumped the ball over the net to tie it back up at 17-17. Then TCU took control, posting a kill after a BU attack error to go up 19-17, with Baylor calling a timeout just after. They’d score two more before Pressley broke it off. That wouldn’t stop them, though Harrison would provide another kill and Callie Williams would serve back-to-back aces to make it 22-21. TCU up by one, they extended the lead to 24-22. They closed the set at 26-24, with Baylor fighting to the finish.

SET TWO
Parise got a kill to start the second frame, then a Harrison block made it 3-0 early. Baylor would score five unanswered, two points coming from Parise. BU extended it to 7-1 as TCU clamored to close the gap. The Frogs pushed it to 9-5, then a call was reversed in TCU’s favor, making it 11-7 with Baylor still in the lead. The Bears went on a three-point run to 15-7 and TCU called timeout. Out of the break, TCU scored one point, but the Bears were going strong. BU extended it to 20-10 with two Pressley kills. Marieke van der Mark had a kill to have the score read 22-11. Sedwick recorded a kill at 24-14 and a service error from TCU ended the frame at 25-15.

SET THREE
With the match tied at 1-1, the Frogs scored the first point of the set. Pressley scored the first point at 2-1, then TCU went on a run. At 7-2 in the Frogs’ favor, BU called timeout. Pressley put a stop to TCU’s scoring, then served five in a row with TCU taking a timeout in between, ending the run at 9-7. The Frogs went up again, with a Baylor timeout trying to stop it at 14-9. Skinner and Pressley tried to stop the bleeding with their kills, but the Frogs were looking too strong. BU pushed to 18-14 with a TCU service error, but the damage had been done in the frame. TCU took the set, 25-18.

SET FOUR
Baylor kept TCU close to the breast early on in the fourth frame, both teams matching each other point for point. TCU jumped ahead after 5-5, with help down the road by a successful challenge. A few Horned Frog errors helped BU catch up. Tied at 10-10, Baylor went just over them with an attack error made by the purple and white, enough for them to call timeout. Up again by one, the Bears challenged a call, but with no clear ruling, the call stood, the score at 12-11. Trading again, they caught up to each other at 15-15. Parise scored to tie it at 16-16. Elise McGhee entered the match and had two big swings to make it 18-17, BU. Baylor went on a 3-0 run, up 19-17. TCU took a timeout, and then came back with two-straight kills to make it 19-19. Parise recorded a monster kill for the Bears, putting BU ahead by one. Pressley went right with her and recorded the next kill. Callie Williams dumped the ball over to end the frame in Baylor’s favor, 25-20.

SET FIVE
Tied at two sets a piece, both teams came in with an element of hunger. The crowd got loud, but Baylor was determined to come out on top. TCU started off with a service error, and BU brought in Bri Coleman to serve. Elise McGhee had her fourth kill of the match to make it 2-0. TCU answered, making it 3-2 with the Frogs leading. Pressley and Skinner scored to put Baylor back in control, 6-4, and TCU called for a pause. TCU challenged a call, reversing the score and making the serve from Taylor Raiola into an ace, tying the set at 6-6. Pressley answered with a triumphant kill. She and Skinner scored two more and the Bears were up 9-8. Attack errors from TCU proved costly, and Elise McGhee had her final kill of the night at 12-10. Breathing down their neck, Pressley had another emphatic kill at 13-11. Sedwick came back in the match and made it 14-11, TCU calling timeout. Match point at hand, TCU’s Raiola had an attack error to end the set, 15-11.
