WACO, Texas – Baylor interim head coach Michael Woodson announced the addition of graduate transfer Nick Stachowiak on Thursday.

Stachowiak comes to Baylor after spending parts of four seasons at Duke University. He compiled an 85-39 singles record and went 79-41 in doubles during his time with the Blue Devils. Due to the shortened 2020 season, Stachowiak retains one year of eligibility and will join the Bears this fall.

“We are excited to add Nick Stachowiak to our team for the upcoming year,” Woodson said. “The success he had at Duke throughout his career speaks for itself. He brings a passion and competitiveness that will fit in perfectly with the culture we are cultivating here at Baylor.”

Originally from Cary, N.C., Stachowiak heads to Waco after a strong start to his senior campaign, going 8-2 in singles and 7-1 in doubles in the spring before the season was interrupted. He was ranked as high as No. 5 in the ITA’s doubles rankings, finishing at No. 8. He is a two-time All-ACC performer, three-time ITA All-Academic Scholar-Athlete honoree and four-time ACC Academic Honor Roll member.

“Nick’s commitment to excelling as a student-athlete is going to be a welcome addition to our team,” Woodson said. “We can’t wait to get started with him.”

Stachowiak will join a BU program that has won 13 Big 12 Conference regular season titles and nine tournament crowns over the 24-year history of the league. The Bears will return all 12 players from the 2020 roster that went 13-3 in the shortened season.
