A Message from Director of Athletics,
Mack B. Rhoades, IV
Baylor Athletics Family,

Today, our very own Walter Abercrombie, who has dedicated twenty years of service to the "B"Association, announced his retirement in a message shared with the Board of the "B"Association today. We are profoundly grateful for his commitment and contributions to the mission of the "B"Association. Please join us in extending warm wishes for his future endeavors.

In the coming weeks, we will provide further updates as we continue to uphold and advance the vision of the "B" Association.

Mack

Dear "B" Association Board Members,

After long and thoughtful deliberation, I have decided to retire from my position as executive director of the "B" Association. My overall tenure at Baylor spans 23 years, and while I have thoroughly enjoyed this amazing journey with you, I feel it is time for me to begin checking a few things off my personal bucket list while I am still able.

Arriving at the decision to retire at this time was not easy. My experiences have been professionally and personally rewarding, and I will treasure the friendships and memories we have shared forever. I will never forget my first day on the job when our beloved Dutch Schroeder showed me the range of responsibilities bestowed upon the director of the association. You can imagine how surprised I was to learn that those responsibilities ranged from regular hospital visits to praying with the sick to cleaning the lounge restrooms after game days. With Dutch, there was no job too big or too small when it involved serving others, especially B Association members. That example of servant leadership stuck with me, and I hope it was reflected in my contributions to the "B" Association and to the university.

During this transition, please contact Executive Senior Associate AD Chad Jackson for matters regarding the "B" Association.
>From the moment I accepted the role of director, I had one simple goal, which was to leave the organization better off than I found it. With your committed involvement and support, I am eternally grateful that we accomplished that goal together.

Respectfully,

Walter A. Abercrombie, Associate Athletics Director
Executive Director, "B" Association
Department of Athletics, Baylor University
