Dear Richard, You are right in your assumption that FAW was a
comprehensive editing job. I was paid a small fee for what became a
massive undertaking. My own fault to some extent since I storied all
but three or four of the episodes and insisted in trying out unknown
writers. When the scripts didn't come up to scratch I had to virtually
re-write them, but if I felt the original writers work deserved a credit
I let it go through as I didn't want to discourage them. This, coupled
with the majority of scripts I wrote myself brought me to th edge of a
breakdown, which I managed to stave off until SPOILS OF WAR WHEN hARRY
kERSHAW stepped in to help me out. It is situations like this which
viewers know nothing of. It happened on Coronation Street, which
should have taught me a lesson, and is one reason why I b itterly resent
BGranada's fooot dragging in paying me my pathetically small royalties.
Hope you are well and good luck with your two books. Regards, JOHN
