Given that AFAW, Sam, and Spoils of War (and Onedin Line, pace Mr. Murphy) have found their way onto DVD (although AFAW and Sam were previously available on VHS), how DO programs get selected/permitted to be recorded? Now that I’ve seen a Tweet or 3 about This Year Next Year and have gotten a couple of not-too-informative replies from Talking Pictures TV, I wonder who now owns rights to these Granada productions. ITV? If AFAW was popular enough to warrant two separate DVD collections AND a fresh transmission on TPTV, who was behind all this in terms of granting rights? Is there some agency (company or individual) that initiates and finalizes the process? None of this benefits me as I live in the US, unless a DVD gets created. If anyone knows anything, I’d be grateful to learn.
