Those are a couple of interesting finds, Christine, and there are two additional connections to A FAMILY AT WAR. Besides Colin Campbell and Lesley Nunnerley, two other AFAW alumni were in those casts:

From A MONTH IN THE COUNTRY, I notice Mark Dignam, who played Dennis Pringle in the episode "The Other Side of the Hill."

From HAMLET, I notice Clifford Rose, who played the colonel in "A Lesson in War."

Subject: [Afamilyatwar-list] Lesley Nunnerley and Colin Campbell pre-AFAW

I have just bought two theatre programmes, one for Turgenev’s A Month In The Country from 1949 with Colin Campbell (the Old Vic Company), and one for a production of Hamlet by the Elizabethan Theatre Company in 1955, with Lesley Nunnerley as Ophelia.

I don’t think I can add images here, but this is the cast information:

1949 (Dec): A MONTH IN THE COUNTRY - Ivan Turgenev (Old Vic at The New

Theatre)

Walter Hudd, Angela Baddeley, Colin Campbell, Yvonne Mitchell, Dorothy Green, Diana Churchill, Paul Rogers, Michael Redgrave, Nigel Stock, George Benson, Mark Dignam, Leo McKern, Jane Wenham; dir:Michel Saint Denis

1955: HAMLET (Arts Council Tour)

Elizabethan Theatre Company: Richard Gale (as Hamlet), Eric Thompson (as Claudius), Toby Robertson (as Polonius and Osric), Peter Jeffrey (as Horatio), Clifford Rose (as Laertes and Guildenstern), David Terence (as Rosencrantz), Bernard Brown (as Priest and Marcellus), Peter Barker (as Barnardo and Lucianus), Roger Boston (as Francisco), Patrick Duffy (as Prologue, 2nd Gravedigger and An Attendant), Colin George (as Player King, 1st Gravedigger, Fortinbras and Ghost), Simon Carter (as Player Queen and A Sailor), Patricia Kneale (as Gertrude), Lesley Nunnerley (as Ophelia), Yvonne Bonnamy and Patricia Voysey (as Ladies attendant on the Queen); directed by Peter Wood, music composed by David King, fights arranged by John Barton

Amazing casts! Colin Campbell’s character is ten, which I think he would have been, about.
