</b>Molly Haywood says that Baylor assistant coach Brandon Richards treats his pole vaulters “like we’re his daughters.”</span></p>

<span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">That’s why Richards was so conflicted Thursday night at the NCAA West Prelims. While Haywood and Tenly Kuhn both vaulted 14-6 ˝ to punch their tickets to the NCAA Championship

 in Eugene, junior Alencia Lentz just missed out, losing a jump-off for the final qualifying spots. </span></p>

 that one stings a little bit with Alencia because of what she’s been through the last year and a half. She’s been through a little mental struggle, and then she had a back injury. But she’s been fighting and clawing back. And if you were to look at where she

 was last year, she’s progressed so far.”</span></p>

 last season, she didn’t clear 13 feet indoors and had a season best of 13-5 ˝ in winning Section B of the Texas Invitational. </span></p>

 home meets, going a season-best 14-6 Ľ at the Michael Johnson Invitational. She also placed fourth at the Big 12 meet with another 14-foot vault. </span></p>

 Utopia, Texas, and Dylan Cross from Overland Park, Kan. Bennett is a three-time 1A state champion who set a meet record with a vault of 17-0 ľ at this year’s UIL State Track & Field Championships. </span></p>
