</b>Nine holes can’t wipe away the frustrations of the previous 45, but Baylor senior golfer Jonas Appel carded four birdies in the final nine of his collegiate career on Tuesday at the NCAA Bryan Regional at Traditions Club.</span></p>

<span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; color: black;">Sitting at 13-over with nine holes to play, Appel put together one of the best stretches of the season with birdies at Nos. 10, 14, 15 and 16 before closing with a bogey and par
on his final two holes to shoot 1-over 73 for the day and 10-over 226 for the tournament. </span></p>

<span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; color: black;">“It definitely felt good,” said Appel, one of five individuals playing in the 54-hole tournament. “It had been a pretty frustrating week up until that point. I, obviously, knew it
was going to be my last nine holes of college golf. But also, I just wanted to end it on a good note and try to have some fun and make some birdies. I was able to hit a couple good approaches and make some nice putts.”</span></p>

<span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; color: black;">Appel, a California native who was trying to advance to the NCAA Championship back home at La Costa Resort and Spa, actually put together bookend nines in the tournament. In Monday’s
opening round, he shot 1-under 35 on the front nine, but was 14-over through the next 36 holes before the strong finish on a day when the field got in 36 holes.</span></p>

<span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; color: black;">“It was a combination of everything,” he said. “I had some moments where I had some putts I thought would drop didn’t drop. And then, I had some struggles off the tee. At a course
like Traditions, if you’re not in play off the tee, it’s usually a hazard or a re-tee. So, I had some penalty drops. I got off to a good start y first round on the front nine, and then I had the struggles and just couldn’t quite get the momentum going again.”</span></p>

<span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; color: black;">The advancing teams out of the Bryan Regional were Texas, Texas A&M, Chattanooga, North Carolina and Tennessee, with Jorge Martin Sampredo from UTRGV finishing 10<sup>th</sup> at
8-under-par 208 to claim the spot as the top individual off a non-advancing team. </span></p>

reassess and see what Q School would look like in the fall.”</span></p>
