after a 4-2 win over No. 57 BYU at the BYU Indoor Courts on Saturday night. <o:p>

<p class="MsoBodyText"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Aptos",sans-serif">After dropping the doubles point, Baylor (17-8, 3-1) bounced back, winning three straight singles matches and clinching the fourth point to take down BYU (12-6, 1-4).

<p class="MsoBodyText"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Aptos",sans-serif">The Cougars came out of the gate hot, taking the doubles point quickly 6-3 on Court One and 6-2 on Court Two.

<p class="MsoBodyText"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Aptos",sans-serif">Moving to singles, Devin Badenhorst, Oskar Brostrom Poulsen and Zsombor Velcz didn’t feel any heat from their doubles loss and jumped on top of their opponents fast, taking
first set wins. Brostrom Poulsen battled BYU’s Fuchs on Court Two in the first and came out with the advantage in a 7-6(2) first set.

<p class="MsoBodyText"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Aptos",sans-serif">Alexandru Chirita narrowly missed joining his teammates with a first set win, falling 7-6(5) on Court Four. However, Chirita didn’t let up, bouncing back quick with a 6-3 second
set win to force a third. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoBodyText"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Aptos",sans-serif">While Chirita forced his match to continue on, Courts One, Two and Three all came out victorious. Velcz on Court Three made quick work of his opponent, taking down BYU’s Owen
6-3, 6-2 to put the first point on the board. This marked Velcz’s eighth straight singles win, the longest streak of his career. Brostrom Poulsen was right behind with a 7-6(2), 6-4 win. Badenhorst on Court One went toe-to-toe in the second, moving to a tiebreaker,
but had the final edge to win his match 6-4, 7-6(2) to put the Bears up 3-1. <o:p>

<p class="MsoBodyText"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Aptos",sans-serif">Louis Bowden and Luc Koenig began their matches after the first two Bears went off as BYU only has four indoor courts. Chirita couldn’t hold his momentum from his second set
win and lost his battle 7-6(5), 3-6, 6-3 as the Cougars got back into striking distance.

<p class="MsoBodyText"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Aptos",sans-serif">“We weren’t sure if we were going to be inside or outside today, so it’s always difficult to play a fast indoor facility in altitude with only four courts,” said head coach
Michael Woodson. “Outside of how poorly we started in doubles, we did a really good job of just being mentally ready for what was going to come when we walked into that place. It’s not an easy to place to play. The guys on their team and the crowd are incredibly
rowdy. It showed a little bit in the doubles since we got down on all three courts. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to turn it on One and Three, so they took a quick doubles point on us.

<p class="MsoBodyText"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Aptos",sans-serif">I was so impressed with how we came out in singles. Oskar and Zsombor actually both got down a break pretty early in singles and just got back to work. It was very clear. Devin
got on top of his guy right away. For Alex, these conditions are not made for him, and he just battled the whole time. I was really proud of the way those four guys started their matches. To take three straight set wins on One, Two and Three, it was super
impressive. Obviously, Devin came back from a break down on the second so they were all down a break point in the second set and came back and won it.

<p class="MsoBodyText"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Aptos",sans-serif">Alex lost a serve deuce in the third set and I think that’s about all you can ask for. He did a great job and battled through. By the time the other guys came on the court,
Louis and Luc, we were ahead and you could tell we had the momentum when fans started leaving. It was a good feeling. I think there was just so much pressure on our opponent. Louis and Luc came out and did their job with just awesome effort and committed to
their games. They got on top of their opponents right away and never really gave them any hope. It’s nice to get out of here with two wins. It’s not very common that a team comes into these places and wins two matches and gets out. Super proud of the guys
and excited to get back to Waco tomorrow.”<o:p></o:p></span></p>
