senior LHP Tyler Thomas has been named the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week, as announced Monday afternoon by the conference office.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.5pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black;letter-spacing:.25pt"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.5pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black;letter-spacing:.25pt">Thomas was brilliant in BU’s 2-1 win over No. 23 UCLA on Friday, tossing 8.2 innings with a career-high 10 strikeouts. He faced the minimum through
seven innings and didn’t allow a second hit until the eighth. No UCLA batter advanced past first base until a one-out solo home run in the ninth.<br>
<br>
Prior to the home run, Thomas extended his scoreless innings streak to 19.2 innings. He exited the game just one out shy of a complete game, having allowed just four hits and zero walks. The fifth-year senior lefty turned in the career-best outing on one of
college baseball’s biggest stages of the weekend at the Shriners Children’s College Classic at Minute Maid Park in Houston.

Now 2-1 on the year, Thomas lowered his season ERA to 1.31, having surrendered just three runs across two different frames of his Big 12-leading 20.2 innings pitched in 2022. He has posted 24 K’s and just three walks, leading the conference with an 8.00 strikeout-to-walk
ratio.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.5pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black;letter-spacing:.25pt">This is Baylor’s first Big 12 Pitcher of the Week award since 2018, when Cody Bradford earned the honor three times. It is the eighth weekly
pitching accolade for the Bears under seventh-year head coach Steve Rodriguez. <o:p>
