graduate seniors Charlie Broom and Nick Stachowiak have been named to the 2021 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District At-Large First Team for District 7, as announced Thursday by the organization.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.5pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black;letter-spacing:.25pt"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.5pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black;letter-spacing:.25pt">Student-athletes are recognized by CoSIDA members for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom. To be considered,
one must accumulate a cumulative GPA between 3.30-4.00 with at least a sophomore athletic standing, while being a starter or key reserve for their respective team.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.5pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black;letter-spacing:.25pt"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.5pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black;letter-spacing:.25pt">Broom, a graduate transfer from Dartmouth, held a 3.46 undergraduate GPA in biochemistry while attending the Ivy League university. At Baylor,
he compiled a 3.83 GPA while pursuing a master’s in sports pedagogy.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.5pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black;letter-spacing:.25pt"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.5pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black;letter-spacing:.25pt">The unanimous Big 12 Newcomer of the Year, Broom led the Bears with a combined 48 wins in singles and doubles play in 2020-21. He earned All-Big
12 Second-Team distinction in singles after being named the conference’s individual champion at the No. 5 position. In helping the Bears reach the NCAA National Championship, a pair of Big 12 titles and their first No. 1 ranking since 2005, Broom was named
to the Big 12 Championship and ITA National Indoors All-Tournament Teams.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.5pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black;letter-spacing:.25pt">Originally from Cary, N.C., Stachowiak graduated from Duke with a 3.6 GPA in psychology before transferring to Baylor. Currently, he carries
a 3.97 GPA in business administration while working towards his MBA with a concentration in cyber security. Stachowiak was also named Baylor’s American Bank Academic All-Star of the Year for male student-athletes.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.5pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black;letter-spacing:.25pt"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.5pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black;letter-spacing:.25pt">An All-Big 12 Second-Team selection in both singles and doubles, Stachowiak compiled 47 combined victories in the 2020-21 season. He ranked as
high as No. 33 in the Oracle/ITA doubles rankings and No. 74 in the singles poll. Stachowiak went undefeated in the postseason, helping the Bears to their first national title match appearance since 2005.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.5pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black;letter-spacing:.25pt">Baylor’s two selections mark the sixth and seventh times a men’s tennis student-athlete has earned a CoSIDA All-District nod. This is the first
season in program history in which BU has received two honorees.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
