Baylor baseball players were named 2021 ABCA/Rawlings All-Central Region with Andy Thomas being tabbed to the first team, while Luke Boyd and Jared McKenzie were selected to the second team, it was announced on Wednesday.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black;background:white"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black;background:white">Thomas finished his time at Baylor with a career-best .337/.411/.575 in 2021, to go along with a career-high 11 home runs and 60 RBI while starting
all 51 behind the plate. Thomas leads the team in home runs and RBI, he was also second in batting average, slugging percentage and total bases (111). His 60 RBI are the most for any Baylor player in a single season since 2012.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black;background:white"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black;background:white">In 2021, Boyd led the team with a 1.27 ERA in 24 appearances and 28.1 innings pitched in the closer role. Boyd finished with eight saves this year,
while only allowing four runs scored and two extra-base hits all season. The Ojai, Calif., native held opponents to a .152 batting average, while only walking 11 batters and striking out 43.

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black;background:white"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black;background:white">McKenzie was tops on the team and was second in the Big 12 in batting average (.383), hits (82) and runs scored (62). McKenzie also tallied 10 home
runs with 44 RBI, 14 doubles and four triples, while starting all 51 games in center field. The Round Rock native led Baylor with 134 total bases, a .626 slugging percentage and a .453 on-base percentage. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
