• No. 18 Baylor Softball heads to Lafayette, La., to take part in the Louisiana Classic. The Lady Bears will square off against Missouri State and No. 9 Louisiana twice each over the weekend.<br>
• Saturday will mark the sixth season that Baylor has faced a ranked opponent on Opening Day under head coach <dfn><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif"><a href="https://baylorbears.com/coaches.aspx?rc=1633"><span style="color:#154734">Glenn Moore</span></a></span></dfn>.
BU is 3-3 in such matchups. Most recently, the Lady Bears run-ruled No. 23 Auburn, 8-0 (5) at the Lead Off Classic in Clearwater, Fla. in 2020. Three of those games were against top-10 foes - No. 9 South Carolina (4-1) in 2019, No. 3 Washington (4-7) in 2014
and No. 1 Florida (0-3) in 2009.<br>
• Baylor faced Missouri State last season in the Lead Off Classic in Clearwater, Fla. In a six-inning game due to travel requirements, Missouri State edged the Lady Bears, 3-0.<br>
• The Lady Bears went 1-2 vs. the Ragin' Cajuns in 2019. Overall, Baylor is 4-8 against Louisiana at Lamson Park.<br>
• BU starts out the 2021 season ranked in the top 25 - No. 18 (ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 Poll), No. 22 (NFCA Top 25 Coaches Poll), No. 19 (D1Softball) and No. 23 (Softball America). This is the 14th time the Lady Bears have begun a season ranked
in the preseason Top 25 in program history, all coming under Moore.<br>
• After this weekend's tournament, Baylor is slated to return home for 11-straight games, including hosting back-to-back tournaments in the Getterman Classic and the Lone Star State Invitational.<br>
• Baylor recently announced its attendance policy for the 2021 softball season at Getterman Stadium. With capacity capped at 300, no season or single-game tickets will be sold this season. Home and visitor student-athletes will receive a limited number of complimentary
tickets. After an allotment of approximately 50 tickets is held for Baylor students, the remaining tickets will be given to members of the Diamond Club on a first-come, first-served basis by emailing athletic-ticketoffice@baylor.edu. Those who receive tickets
are required to follow CDC guidelines, wearing masks at all times and practicing social distancing.<br>
• Baylor welcomes back everybody but one member of the 2020 team after the season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic and seniors were awarded an extra year of eligibility.<br>
• After 20 seasons as an assistant coach for the Lady Bears, Mark Lumley retired in October before he passed away in December after his fourth bout with cancer. The Baylor players and coaching staff will all be wearing blue ribbons in his honor. This season
is for Lum.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
