</span></strong>The 2020 Baylor women's tennis team debuts its spring season Friday at 6 p.m. vs. Georgia State at the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Facility.<br>
<br>
The Panthers were an 11-13 team last season that posted a 6-6 record in the Sun Belt Conference. Their season ended in the semifinals round of the conference tournament. GSU is coached by a former Baylor Bear, Alex Leatu. Leatu lettered under Baylor head coach
<dfn><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif"><a href="https://baylorbears.com/coaches.aspx?rc=1480">Joey Scrivano</a></span></dfn> from 2012-14.<br>
<br>
The Bears are looking to turn a new leaf after missing the NCAA Tournament last season for the first time under Scrivano. After battling injuries, Baylor bolstered its squad in the offseason with three newcomers and a transfer.
<dfn><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif"><a href="https://baylorbears.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=9589">Alicia Herrero Linana</a></span></dfn> and
<dfn><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif"><a href="https://baylorbears.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=9592">Mel Krywoj</a></span></dfn> are eligible after each serving a year-in residence beginning in January of 2019.
<dfn><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif"><a href="https://baylorbears.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=9724">Anastasia Kharitonova</a></span></dfn> joined Baylor in the fall and competed in tournament play after playing her freshman season at the University
of Florida. <dfn><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif"><a href="https://baylorbears.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=9670">Daria Rakitskaya</a></span></dfn> also joined Baylor as a true freshman in the fall.<br>

Those four new faces along with seniors <dfn><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif"><a href="https://baylorbears.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=9590">Jessica Hinojosa</a></span></dfn> and Angie Shakhraichuk, juniors
<dfn><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif"><a href="https://baylorbears.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=9591">Livia Kraus</a></span></dfn> and Kris Sorokolet and sophomore Paula Barañano make up the nine-member team. Scrivano is in his 17th season with the team,
his 400th career victory as BU head coach is within striking distance this season as he enters with 381.<br>

Baylor's youth program, Cub Tennis, also kicks off tonight at 5 p.m. It's Faith and Family night and the first 100 fans will receive a Baylor water bottle.<o:p></o:p></p>
