NCAA WEST RESULTS<https://flashresults.ncaa.com/Outdoor/2026/FirstRounds/West/index.htm>

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Tiriah Kelley not only advanced to the NCAA Championship in the 100 and 200 meters with near-record times in both Saturday night, the Baylor senior All-American also ran leadoff leg on the 4x100 relay that punched its ticket on the final day of the NCAA West Prelims.

With 400-meter hurdler Serafima Lucero winning her heat and advancing with the program’s fifth-fastest time, the Baylor women matched last year’s total with nine entries for next month’s NCAA Championship in Eugene, Ore., while the men will take their 4x400 relay and Demario Prince in the 110-meter hurdles.

A bronze medalist in the 200 meters at the NCAA Indoor Championship, Kelley started her day with a blistering leadoff leg on the 4x100 relay that finished second in its heat and sixth overall with a time of 43.47. Sophomore Hannah Lowe ran the second leg, followed by freshman Jada Edwards and sophomore anchor Royaltee Brown.

The Bears were second in the opening heat behind USC, which recorded the overall fastest time at 42.54. Baylor was one of five Big 12 teams advancing, joined by Arizona, TCU, Texas Tech and Arizona State.

Matching Caira Pettway’s four-year-old school record, Kelley nipped Texas Tech’s Alyssa Colbert at the finish line to finish third in her heat and eighth overall in 11.06 seconds (rounded up from 11.059). A year ago, when Kelley also advanced in three events, she didn’t even compete in the 100 at the NCAA West.

In her signature 200-meter event, Kelley led from wire to wire and won her heat in 22.20 seconds, .02 off her own school record and the second-fastest in the field. Freshman Success Oyibu nearly advanced as well, finishing fifth in her heat and 14th overall with a career PR time of 20.90.

Running in her first NCAA postseason meet, Lucero followed up her 56.35 time in Thursday’s opening round by winning her heat and recording the ninth-fastest overall time to advance to the NCAA Championship. A year ago, Calisha Taylor was the Big 12 runner-up and set the program record in the event en route to the NCAA Championship, but she sat out this year.

Other than Oyibu in the 200, those missing out included Janae De Gannes in the 100 meters, Brown in the 100 and 200 and Ruth Kimeli in the 5,000 meters. After advancing in the 10,000 meters on Thursday, Kimeli seemed to run out of gas over the last half of the race and finished 29th overall in 16:20.7.

After a little over one-hour lightning delay, the final two heats of the 4x400 were completed in the final event of the four-day meet at John McDonnell Field. Subbing for two of the legs, including Kelley, Baylor finished last in its heat and 22ndoverall in 3:37.9.

Taking a total of 11 entries (including a pair of relays), Baylor will leave next Sunday for the NCAA Championship, which begins June 10 at Hayward Field in Eugene.
